What is it like to have a gibbon as a pet
Pets > Monkeys as Pets
I agree that monkeys and apes for pets need to be left in the wild. I have owned a gibbon when I lived in Thailand, brought it to Cambodia, then to Hong Kong, Virginia, then South Vietnam. As the gibbon grew up and matured, my sweet pet began to turn on people, even me. I donated her to the Saigon Zoo before I left Saigon. This was a long time ago. Even though there are natural predators, etc., wild animals do not make good pets after they have matured. They need to be with their own kind, learning and teaching the next generation. Yes, my gibbon was very cute, very human like and very smart. I am basing this message on personal and sorrowful facts from my own life. Leave the wild out there, it is very cruel to bring them into your homes.
