• Review:: 'Johnston Descendant As a descendant of the people chronicled in this novel I was very moved to find a link to my ancestors. But I think, even if I had not been a descendant, I would have learned a great deal about this region of our country and the culture of those who lived and founded a life there. I was most taken by how thoroughly the French and American Indian culture mixed together creating one all its own.
